Black Sheep

Black Sheep: Journey to Borroloola

An enjoyable read which follows the author’s search for his ancestors in Australia’s Northern Territory. It gives an insight into the history of this region and the treatment of aboriginal Australians. Does not go into detail about the Aboriginal way of life, but does offer some insights. Nothing actually to do with sheep though, which is a pity as we were looking forward to meeting them!

Aboriginal Fables and Legendary Tales

Aboriginal Fables and Legendary Tales (Aboriginal Library)

Aboriginal Fables and Legendary Tales (Aboriginal Library)

An excellent book containing around 70 stories from the aboriginal dreaming, with wonderful titles such as ‘How Tortoise Got His Shell’, ‘The First Bullroarer’ and ‘The First Man in the Southern Cross.’ Gives a good insight into the Aboriginal creation myths and is a valuable resource for the storyteller. A must read for anyone interested in mythology or Aboriginal Australia. Of course the Aboriginals considered the dreaming myths as actual fact and we do too.

Roos Doing and Boing- Allo

Allo to Boing and Doing our new 'Roo friends.  They love the didgeridoo and they are named after some interesting didgeridoo sounds, which mimic the sound of a kangaroo.  They have been reading lots about Aboriginal Australia and will be posting some film and book reviews.  They like Kylie and AC/DC too (we prefer Lady Gaga! but each to their own)

Here they are look>

Allo! Welcome :-)  This is the blog home of Scoof and Goose, sometimes serious and sometimes funny, looking at the world through the eyes of spirit helper beings (spirit animals in knitted bodies).  We like nature and animals, and wish to protect our friends, but also help the 'umans live in harmony.
